Subject: [ferrethealth] calcification on spleen (seen via x-ray)
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have a 1 yr old male that appears to have a couple small
calcifications on his spleen based on x-ray.

Ferret appears to be bright and alert, normal food and water
consumption. The reason he was at the vet is he wasn't having his
normal size bowel movement. He would try to poop many times and only a
small amount would come out (starting last night). Went in for xrays to
look for signs of an obstruction. Abdomen looks normal intenstinal
wise...no gas patterns or anything to indicate a blockage. Just food in
the tummy and poop in the intestines and colon. Ferret was given
laxatone to see if that helps. Anyways, while taking these xrays we saw
what looks like some calcification on his spleen. He spleen is fairly
big for his size, but not huge. Has anyone ever seen this before? Is it
something to be concerned about? Could this be contributing to his
abnormal bowel movements? As I said before, he appears to be a healthy
boy, besides to stool stuff. Any input would be great. Thanks!
