Important to remember:
Raisins and grapes have been tied to acute kidney failure in ferrets, dogs and cats. The root
cause is not yet known but fungi, pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, fertilizers, and a number
of related things have been looked at without success so far.
When a ferret is sick there is nothing quite like being able to provide meat baby food, a/d,
Carnivore Care, etc. to get the ferret past the hump, or for longer for some terminally ill
ferrets. They are huge helps for avoiding death.
For a number of ferrets that also means using them as treat items from kithood on so that
they are easily accepted when needed.
Ferrets are like people, different ones can prefer different flavors.
Because ferrets imprint on foods it may be necessary with foods that have not been given
before or are rarely given to turn the eating into a game, or turn it into a cuddle time, or to
add another treat like Ferretone on top, or to smear some of it on the outside of the mouth
where it can be licked, or even to introduce little a few times into the mouth to get
acceptance at first.
