Actually Iron drops would take too long to do his body any good. I personally don't know of anyway to boost the iron and defeat anemia. Not sure if a B-12 shot would help the effects of anemia or not.. If he really is as anemic as the figures suggest he needs to be treated ASAP.. and I'm so sorry, but Clo.. he needs a ferret vet this time.

I know it's so very far for you to get to one, but if those numbers are right... one problem with severe anemia is oxygenating the body.. sorta like.. the cells or the body's organs need to breathe but they can't.. so the heart stops.

Now if there is any possibility that he's not anemic a ferret vet should be able to tell you that too, but of course that's with blood tests..

Oh, sh*t! Does this mean I need to get him a transfusion? I think I can do it for tomoorow.
In the mean time, iron drops? What else can I do?

Please cc any urgent instructions to cwilliams@gmcs.k12.nm.us or call 505/409-7255 as I
cannot get my regular emails or lists at work. I'll try to get ahold of my city ferret vet in the
mean time.

He who learns must suffer. And even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart. And in our own despair, and against our will, comes Wisdom by the awful Grace of God...Aeschylus
