Subject: [ferrethealth] Multiple myeloma

Does anyone have any info. on this disease/cancer in ferrets? I have
tried a search on the board, but it found nothing. This is the
probable diagnosis for my little guy. The first sign was a broken foot
followed by progressive rear end weakness. I have just returned from
my vet, who is very ferret knowledgeable, and this is what direction
we are looking in. Spine films and further films of abnormal healing
of foot area plus continued lab work are strongly suspicious for this
diagnosis. I only want to do what is right and comfortable for Ferris.
He will remain on Prednisone 5mg total/day, Carafate, and now Buprenex
2-3 times/day for discomfort. Any info or suggestions appreciated.
