Oh, I'm so beat! One can never be careful enough about food, but no, it couldn't be his
diet, unless the bit of bone in his soup is suddenly attacking only him. As for the mass the
vet saw on the xray, well, I'll tell you. After reading just this morning how severe the
anemia was, I ran out of work, grabbed Buddy and a couple of donor boys, called my ferret
vet, drove the--oh--2.5 hours to get the transfusion done. My vet did another blood test
and Buddy's hemocrit is just fine--the first vet must have gotten some other fluid mixed in
with the blood, is the only thing my vet can guess. Oh, and the mass that the first vet felt,
and then pointed out to me on the xray, telling me was a large tumor? The one that I said
looked like a kidney? Guess what? It's a kidney. I'd like to reach into that idiot's gut far
enough to squeeze his kidney, but I'll settle for putting him out of business--I think I have
a good chance. Anyone willing to clarify some technical points regarding this (such as
what a CBC should include, for example), please contact me off list.
Anyhow, the white poo remains. My vet did a real blood test and we should get the results
back in the morning (normed against ferrets this time, not dogs). I gave him all of Sukie's
references and he'll go over them tonight. He's a good ferret vet, just hasn't had much
experience with some of the more "out there" ferret problems yet.
Funny that I should still want to watch House tonight.
