I am not a vet, but I did want to mention that when my ferret Ronan was extremely bloated with gas due to a bacteria overgrowth, one of my vets put him on a small dose of Gas-X for babies. I don't have the dosage in front of me (it would vary by weight anyway), but it might be something to ask your vet about to give Cho some relief from some of the intestinal distress.
Has irritable bowel disorder (IBD) been ruled out for this ferret? Some of what you describe sounds very familiar to what we've gone through with Ronan, who was diagnosed with severe IBD through an intestinal biopsy.
