Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Causes of enlarged spleen
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Helicobacter infection is a common cause. There are several medical approaches with Biaxin
and Amoxi a typical one. I think that is for two weeks, but since I am not sure check the
archives.
There are multiple possible causes, so it would make sense to do a CBC *AND* a Chemistry
Panel. (Too many people having blood tests recently have only been having the first done but
the second has very important info.)
A spleen that becomes very large is uncomfortable for the ferret and has a risk of rupture.
Spleens do get larger in ferrets with older age, but even then there are limits, and this one is
only a year old so is still a juvenile.
