Subject: [ferrethealth] Renal Disease/non-ferret vet question

This is our first experience with renal disease in a ferret. And
non-ferret vet would like info on the best treatment.
HISTORY: 6 plus (DOB 4-23-00) year old late alter breeder hob
presented with paleness to gums, nose, ears and paw pads. Drinking
a lot of water and increased urine output. Appetite good for
chicken gravy, but not for kibble. Somewhat unstable on feet but
normal on carpet. No history of prior kidney disease, prepuce cyst
removed 2006 and prior surgeries (x2) mast cell tumors.

GLU 77 mg/dL 88 mg/dL
BUN 31mg/dL 173 mg/dL
PHOS 5.7 mg/dL 11.8 mg/dL
CRE 0.8 mg/dL 0.8 mg/dL
RBC 6.13 3.60
HGB 12.3 5.4
HCT 17.78% 33%
REC: Subq fluids 25ml, every day or every other day ???
Vet would appreciate oncur/suggestions on treatmet Thank you for
your assistance
Prednislone ??? for comfort and appetite stimulant.
