Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: difficulty urinating
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I took the day off from work today and took Mojave to my other
animals' vet for a second opinion.

The vet did a physical exam, urinalysis, x-rays, and the TN panel.
He said he didn't find anything remarkable on the physical exam that
would leave him to believe that it was adrenal. The urinalysis did
not show anything and the pH was normal.

The X-rays didn't show any stones but did show that his bladder
wasn't the usual tear drop that he'd expect to see. When he showed me
the X-rays it looked more round than the drawing he made of what
Mojave's bladder is supposed to look like. He said when he tried to
take an x-ray from the side, Mojave urinated and so made it hard for
him to see what was making his bladder shaped oddly.

He also said that something looks slightly wrong with one of Mojave's
vertebrae. He said "not to say it's been broken but may have just
grown in this unusual way" Does anyone know (although I know the
description is too vague)if there is correlation between his
vertebrae problem and his needing to stretch out and push when he
urinates?

The vet said that he doesn't believe that Mojave has adrenal disease.
Although he said that an ultrasound would, of course, be better to
diagnose adrenal disease, he really didn't see any real enlargement
of his adrenal glands in the X-rays.

Now I'm just waiting to get the results of the TN panel and am going
to schedule an MRI.
