being heated, for most medications there is no harm in adding them to the food
afterwards, as long as it is at a comfortable eating temperature and is going
to be eaten right away. It does depend on the medication, of course, but
pred, for example, added to soup at a comfortable eating temperature will not
degrade in the brief time before it is eaten.**

**Lactated ringers or any other fluid for injection should never be
microwaved. It can be heated by immersion in a warm water bath, and I do that
routinely for ferrets, especially if they are post-op.**
