Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: difficulty urinating

I was also wondering if maybe it was muscular. He stretches out like
he's trying to tighten his abdomen and pushes, but he hasn't ever had
surgery and no known accidents before he started having trouble
urinating.

I asked both vets if they wanted to treat him with antibiotics. The
last one I took him to said he did not see any bacteria in his urine.
He also said that there are I believe it was conical shaped bacteria
that is hard to see in urine. He also said as the other vet and I said
that he does not want to abuse the antibiotics or treat him for an
infection when Mojave might not have one.

The vet also said that he can't rule out a partial blockage.

The vets didn't rule out adrenal completely but said that they don't
believe it to be adrenal. As the first vet noted enlarged prostates are
usually secondary to adrenal disease. Not to say that it doesn't happen
without showing other symptoms, most of the time the ferret presents
the classic symptoms first.

Finally, on the X-rays we could not see the prostate. All we could see
was that his bladder was a bit misshapen from how the vet would expect
it to look.
