In cases of hair loss, adrenal disease should be the first thing to be ruled out. Hair loss, and a swollen vulva are some of the indicators of such a condition. The following links have info about adrenal disease:

http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/ferrets/a/ferretadrenal.htm

http://www.ferret-universe.com/health/adrenal.asp

http://www.everythingferret.com/adrenal_disease.htm

The bottomline is that if it is adrenal disease then vetrinary intervention is the only course of action. Either surgery to remove the disease organ or lupron to surpress the symptoms (but adrenal gland remains diseased).

If its not adrenal disease, then check out these links:

http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?articleid=543

http://www.ferretcentral.org/faq/part4.html (general faq but good nonetheless)

Hope that helps.
