Subject: [ferrethealth] Heart disease help??
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I was wondering if anyone had ever had a vet diagnose a ferret with
heart disease without having an ultrasound &/or a ECG? We've had x-rays
and they show an enlarged heart (he also has other symptoms)...I've done
some studying up on heart disease & it seems like (to me) that's what he
has. :( It's just that ultrasounds (& ECG's) are so expensive...I didn't
know if a ferret could actually be put on meds for heart disease without
having to go through all these expensive procedures.
They also think that my poor little guy has insulinoma & they are
treating him with PRED SOD for that. I just read an article that PRED
could make his heart condition worse...is this true??? He's about 6
years old now.
ANY help would be great appreciated!
