-I would also add to look at the newspaper once the urine has soaked
in- does it have particles laying where the urine was (but now has
soaked through into the newspaper). Another way of putting this
would be is there any residue left on top of the paper- if you are
unsure take a butter knife and gently scrape across the newspaper.
You want to get what might have been left on top of the paper not
flakes of the wet newspaper itself. Look at the knife- does it have
sticky gook on it- or particles- or anything much? If so that has
pointed to a UTI in the past for me and also when the urine is first
urinated on the paper you may see particles "floating" in the urine -
those would be what would sit on top of the newspaper after the
urine has soaked in- which would show up on the knife.
