Subject: [ferrethealth] Imuran Help Needed
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hello again,

Kodo's Imuran for his IBD arrived tonight. It came with some
instruction pamphlets that now has me scared of this medicine.

It says to wear gloves when administering the Imuran, to avoid contact
with your skin. It says that if accidental contact is made, you should
contact your physician or poison control.

Kodo has a habit of shaking his head after meds and with how he drools
and foams at meds time lately, there's almost always some medicine that
gets on him and/or whoever is giving it. Then he rubs his face all over
his blankets.

So, now I'm really worried. What if he gets this medicine on himself or
somewhere else? And if you can't get it on your skin, then why would it
be safe to give by mouth? Even our nearest animal emergency center
didn't have any answers and said to call poison control.

This just really has me scared to the point that I don't think we're
going to start giving it until we can get some answers to these
questions. This stuff just sounds really dangerous.

If anyone can help us with this, that would be great.
