Subject: [ferrethealth] I need help with Ferret's Insulinoma problem!
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My little Butchie has had Insulinoma for 6 months now, and the
Prednisone alone is no longer cutting it. He had a major seizure
tonight, and taking him to the emergency vet cost me $180 for nothing
I didn't already know! Now it is time for him to go on Diazoxide,
which I cannot afford. A ferret rescuer sent me a tiny bit leftover
from one of her ferrets who passed, and that will last me a week or
so. Does anyone out there have any they could send me? I don't think
that Butch will last through a whole bottle anyway. He's so thin and
sad looking. My son, who is chronically ill, has been nursing him
like his baby - hand feeding him, sleeping with him in his bed. I
want to try to keep Butch as well as possible for as long as possible,
but all my money is going to pay for my son's treatments. I will
bless anyone who can help me. I live out on the eastern end of Long
Island, and there are no shelters here that deal with ferrets who I
could go to for help. Help!

[Moderator's Note: Remember that there are federal laws that govern
the distribution of prescription medications so the meds will need to
go between the giver's vet and the vet of this poster, so use the direct
reply feature and find out the contact info for the poster's vet.]
