Georgi's Parasitology for Veterinarians says that H. diminuta is
primarily a rodent parasite, but occasionally affects humans and
dogs. That implies that it is opportunistic (think about who usually
eats grain/meal) so would probably be happy to grow in a ferret given
the chance.

The tapeworm most commonly transmitted by fleas is the dog tapeworm
Dipylidium caninum which has been reported in ferrets according to
Clinical Laboratory Animal Medicine by Hrapkiewicz, et al.
