Subject: [ferrethealth] Izzy has an abdominal mass on the right side

Hi Guys,
I noticed out of the blue today that Izzy, one of our 6yr olds has a
huge rock hard mass on his right side. I didn't notice it a few days
ago, but he has lost some weight and is flat ferreting sometimes like
he doesn't feel real great (but sometimes he does this out of boredom
and always has so it's hard to tell) and then all of a sudden he will
be up chasing the cat like normal. He is sleeping alot,(yes unusual
for a ferret I know!) and paler than usual on his nose feet and ears.
The mass is on the right side and you can really see it when you pick
him up, his side bulges out. It can be felt from right next to his
spine all the way down and over to his, ah, "belly button" I think it
is about 2 inches tall and an inch and a half wide. It also kind of
moves around on the right side of the stomach cavity bewteen the ribs
and the hip, it's right up against the skin not deep inside...enlarged
spleen perhaps? He's not at all sensitive to me feeling around it,
doesn't act like it bothers him a bit. He's eating, drinking and
pooing fine. He's going to the vet in a couple of days but I'd like to
have some ideas on what in the world this could be if anyone has any
suggestions or previous experience with anything similar. Thanks! Yvonne
