Hi my name is Kathleen and it has been a while since I posted. I now
have 5 ferrets and recently went to Kirkland WA to meet with a ferret
specialist which is near Seattle 2 1/2 hours from where I live.
Anyway Little Bear and Mia both have Adrenal difficulties and are non
surgical due to there hearts. As it turns out I have had them on
Melantonin implants, Mia for a couple of years and I was worried
because there symptoms had returned. My new vet, who is a miracle by
the way, has a shelter with 70 ferrets and 6 of her own. I have to
admit in my 11 years of ferret experience, I have never encountered a
vet like her. She reports that she is currently doing a study and in
her experience, Melatonin is a mask of symptoms helping with hair
regrowth, but that in fact in her experience the tumors do not shrink
and the benefits of Melatonin wears off after 8 months. Considering
what she has told me I feel this must be true as I have had all 5 of
my ferrets on implants and I can see that it is no longer working on
any of them for hair regrowth and aggression that it helped
previously. I now have Little Bear and Mia on Lupron injections and
that is what she recommended in addition to treatment for their
hearts. So if anyone lives in the Seattle area and wants to know the
name of a good ferret specialist, email me.

Kathleen and Little Bear, Mia, Kosmo, Bookker and Pandy.
