Ann,
Lupi's "neck fat" could be from a number of things. Ferrets will
occasionally get plumper there for no reason (in my experience, it
usually has to do with a change of seasons), or it could be weight
gain and that's the first place you're noticing it. Has he been eating
more lately?
Worrying is not fun but it's sometimes a good thing. I would recommend
him seeing a vet SOON, just to check everything over. A suddenly fat
neck can be from swollen lymph nodes, which can be from an infection
or sometimes lymphoma. These can become serious quickly and the sooner
you get started treating them, the better.
Plus, if Lupi sees the vet and everything turns out to be normal, you
have the peace of mind knowing he's a strong healthy boy. :)
