Ann
I know I am brand new to this list, but I feel obligated to email you.
Please take him in tomorrow and have your vet check him over. these very well could be lymph nodes that have come up due to lymphoma and it can happen quickly. there is a protocol if this is lymphoma, that is a good one that doesn't cause them to be ill and they don't have to go under to get IV treatments.

Our oldest guy, Lupi, is a little over 6 years old. He's never had any
serious health problems (just ear mites once, a broken tooth that had
to be removed, and eye allergies on occasion). We noticed tonight
while cleaning ears that his scruff (whole neck area really) seems to
have a lot of fat. He's a pretty skinny boy, always has been, but his
neck is real thick. My question is should I be worried about this?
Could it be something besides fat? And why all of a sudden did it
appear just around his neck? He's not showing any signs of illness. In
fact, he was quite active today. Is this just age?

Thanks so much,
Ann
