This ferret needs to be checked for heart disease, Juvenile Lymphoma, and lung disease
with this triad of extreme lethargy, bloating, and coughing, and for ferrets using imaging
to do so is essential. The youth adds a fourth indicator of possible JL.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? If you post where you are list members may be able to help
with information on area vets.

You can also ask regional clubs, look in magazines, and do Google searches.
These all vary from each other and some are more up to date than others because they
rely on people sending in updates
I can't recall if there are some others in my links page but there are likely to be useful
write-ups so also see for the up to date list:

Remember that if the problem is a congenital defect, a heart tumor, or hypertrophic then
ultrasound may be needed to spot it, and for dilated cardiomyopathy ultrasound is done
afterwards to best design the medical approach.
A heartworm test might also not be a bad idea:
http://www.miamiferret.org/fhc/heartworm.htm
as well as reading
http://www.bradleyhills.com/ferrets/health_issues/heart_disease/
http://www.heidihoefer.com/pages/ferrets/ferret_heart.htm
http://www.petcarevabeach.com/heart.html
which are by experienced ferret vets.
You will also find past vet posts (a goodly number) in the FHL Archives including ones on
heart disease in kits:
http://ferrethealth.org/archive/
and even:

may prove of use if things get worse.
