Subject: [ferrethealth] Ferret Feeding Question
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My Papillon dog is fed Nature's Variety Raw Medallions which suits her beautifully. I would like to research raw feeding for ferrets. I am sure there is hot debate on the topic and debate is not what I am looking for. Been there, done that with canine feeding...At this point I am wondering if we know enough about ferret nutrition to provide a raw diet unless that diet consist of freshly killed species appropriate prey whole body...I don't know...I asked the manufacturers of Nature's Variety Raw if they thought the nutritional values in their food was appropriate for ferrets. They responded by saying that even though they know many people feed their ferrets the NV Raw, that the manufacturer was not in a position to say whether the food was species appropriate or not as they don't deal in ferrets. They recommended I ask my vet... The foods website is at: www.naturesvariety.com Does anyone here have any long term experience in feeding this particular food to their
ferrets? It's 95% raw meat and organs and no grain.

As I was preparing to write this post, I was doing research on ferret feeding and came across a raw feeding list for ferret families at: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalFerrets/ so I have applied and will see what's out there.
