Subject: [ferrethealth] What do you guys think of water therapy?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

This is just something I have started on my own. One of my ferrets is
very sick and wasn't using his legs much, and since he loves baths I
decided to take him into the bath with me. It turned out to work very
well; the warm water and his buoyancy took stress and tension off of
his muscles and helped his circulation. It also builds trust between
you and your ferret; they learn to trust you when they are in the
water (when your fuzzy is sick, they don't swim as well and they need
help keeping their head up). Try it with one of your ferrets when they
are not feeling to well, just please remember that the bathroom isn't
too chilly and always supervise your ferret in the water (take a bath
with them!). In the bath, while you want to encourage them to swim,
you don't want to stress them, so if they just want to relax that is
fine, also, always make sure that your fuzzy isn't too stressed out
and are not struggling in the water. After your fuzzy's bath, dry him
off completely to keep him from catching a chill and than the time
also calls for a snuggly blanket and cuddle time!
