Hello Dr Heather Jones,
Yes, you can test ferrets with the
Idexx SNAP ELISA heartworm test.
However if you send the blood sample into
an Idexx lab, they run a microwell test that may
be even more sensitive.
In a healthy ferret you can just start them on
a preventative like we do with cats.
