Subject: [ferrethealth] Hair loss

My ferret has no hair on underside of tail and thinner hair on the
top. I dont know if she is licking it off, as I am aware sometimes
animals of all kinds, tend to get an obsession and just keep licking.
Just wondering are there mites in the tail region that might be
upsetting her - what do I look for?
If it is more serious like cancer - are there any other signs to look
out for?
She usually goes through this every summer - maybe it is a way of her
keeping herself cool???
Your thoughts on this matter would be appreciated.
