Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Hair loss
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have two ferrets with what I thought was "rat tail". However, we have just had a very enlarged left adrenal gland removed from the one and are scheduling surgery for the other. A number of ferrets at the shelter also developed adrenal disease without the typical hair loss pattern. Please don't assume the hair loss is just rat tail or seasonal in nature. If you are not sure, its time to see the vet (as I have learned).

Cheers,
Robert.

"Rat tail" is nothing to worry about unless it spreads to her haunches/ back. Many ferrets get a bald tail and it is not clear why...
