I did the Tufts protocol with my one girl and the first week (L-asp)
didn't do anything to knock her out. She was completely normal and
slightly better.
Now, the second weeks treatment knocked the stuffing out of her for
5 days - I thought I was going to lose her, had to hand feed,
wouldn't do anything but sleep, etc. But on day 5 she jumped up and
went tearing around the house like a kit again.
I had to stop at that point, as I was going out of town for 11 days
and if she to be nursed to that extent again after her third
treatment, there was nobody available to do it. My husband can do
basic care meds, etc. but this was beyond him due to his work
schedule.
So I then switched to biweekly Depo Medrol injections and got 9
weeks of perfect health (or at least, she was acting perfectly
healthy - just like a kit again), before she suddently went downhill
in a matter of a few days and we had her put down.
She was a small jill to begin with, if she had been stronger I may
have started back up again with the treatment. I will definitely
look to using this again in the future.
