Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Lymph node biopsy, enlarged spleen, antibiotics...help!
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

The first symptom we noticed was abnormal stools and diarrhea, then
loss of appetite and lethargy. For the first few days we assumed it
might have been the mysterious ECE but then when it didn't clear up
we took them to the vet along with a stool sample. The vet said they
didn't have parasites (coccida), so we assumed it was a helicobacter
flare-up because of the recent stress on the business (we had just
lost a ferret and gained another in the span of about 2 weeks).
Usually, stress is what causes a helicobacter flare-up.

Enlarged spleens can be from a number of different things; when we
took Summer to the vet because of her's, our vet went over the
symptoms of just about every common illness in ferrets.

How old is Key Largo? If he's shows no other symptoms besides
chronic lethargy, then you might be looking at a heart condition
like cardiomyopathy. I might suggest
an x-ray to start with.

I wish you the best!
