I agree that the insulinoma needs a follow-up and also that it would be great for you to
find a ferret vet in your area. If the list Jeff passes along doesn't help there are more and
people here may be able to suggest someone if you say generally where you are.

Also, if there is an adrenal tumor it needs something more aggressive than just oral
melatonin. There is a lot of information on adrenal disease in the archives.

Adrenal disease often causes dry skin, and of course, the driness of winter heating only
makes that itchier. There are special products and as a stop gap you can put plain old
virgin olive oil on the ferret's skin and then blot it down with a towel. Olive oil can be
safely ingested and it is very gentle on skin, for example:

It doesn't particularly sound like time for a mercy shot to me; it sounds more like time for
follow-up vet care with a ferret vet because some of what could be going wrong from the
diseases worsening could become dangerous without follow-up.
