Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Occasional Vomit - need advice dearly...I don't have a ferret savy vet
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have been given both of my kids laxatone off and on for hairballs
since I recieved them (one year ago). While my female doesn't appear
to shed all that often, her brother has had two major coat drops. I
always see the fur coming through his stool. Not hers though. That
doesn't mean its not there though. I just thought that she was too
young to think furballs already (15 mon). Needless to say, she is on
laxatone. Her latest stool looked great, not seedy or green. And no
vomit. She has eaten and is drinking normal. I am also starting to
introduce feline z/d in with their innova evo, to see if that helps
at all. I am also attempting to cut out all treats, in case that is
the source of her problems (the two times I have seen her vomit, it
has been about an hour after eating her treats). I have a question
though...I understand that you can't always see an obstruction on x-
ray, but shouldn't there be abnormal gas patterns present? That is
what my vets look for before they proceed to a barium series.

Thanks for the advice, and I will keep you all posted on things. As
of now though, she seems great.
