Subject: [ferrethealth] What do you feed your IBD/IBS fur kid? Need help with things...
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I have narrowed down my options with my occasional vomit female to
either a partial obstruction from a hairball or mild IBD/IBS. While I
give her laxatone on an occasional basis (when someone appears to be
shedding more) I am ramping it up a bit. I am more inclined to believe
she has GI problems given the way her stool is. Compared to her
borthers, her always looks more seedy than his, for as long as I have
had her. It is almost always brown in color (sometimes has yellow or
green patches, and sometimes mucousy), but very seedy. I am starting to
mix feline z/d with her food (which her brother eats to...shouldn't be
problematic right?) but I am curious as to what other people on the
list feed their IBD kids. I am willing to try anything before I have to
look at an exploratory/biopsy. She is so tiny...it would be so
stressful on her. I have always had my kids on a low carb diet (innova
evo) so I am beginning to think this is maybe a poultry allergy. I also
worry about them not getting enough protein/fat. Plus, her brother and
her are free fed (they tend to be grazers). Will it be ok for him to
switch diet along with her?
