Andrea, the "bird seed" will be what are called "lipid balls" meaning balls of fats/oils.

If that is all that you are seeing then try cutting back the fat in the diet, especially if you
are supplementing with oils or fats. We've seen one back before anyone talked about IBD
completely clear up with just that dietary change.

By Bruce Williams DVM includes:

BEGIN QUOTE

Birdseed poop - Generally a sign of maldigestion or malabsorption. Also non-specific, it
can be seen with any disease that severely affects the small intestine. Most commonly seen
with ECE, the individual seeds are usually undigested fat and starch complexes. When you
see this, you should consider removing a ferret from kibble and going to a bland, easily
digested supplement for a while.

END QUOTE

A bland diet is a temporary diet such as one based on meat baby food. When we had two
with IBD one could have any of the meats, but one had a food intolerance for any poultry
so for him the foods used were mammal based ones.
