Subject: [ferrethealth] Anyone have any experience with kidney failure?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
My 6.5 year old male ferret has been diagnosed with severe kidney
failure. He had one adrenal gland removed 1.5 years ago. I have a
very ferret knowledgeable vet who has run numerous blood tests and his
BUN is very high. I am giving Rascal sub-Q fluids 2x a day and hand
feeding as much as possible, but now the diaherrea is back which is
causing his butt to bleed, this happened before while he was in the
hospital and they cleared it up with steroid cream. He is also on
Amoxi drops and flagyl.
There is not to much info on the web for renal failure, and am
wondering if there is more I can do. He sleeps most of the time, and
only eats when I feed him.
Any advise would be welcome.
