Subject: [ferrethealth] Two Questions for those in the know!

First let me say I am glad to be receiving this list again. I have
missed you. Had problems getting logged in with the move the list
made but have managed to rectify that!
My vet, who is a very knowledgeable vet, but always open to learning
new things has come into a couple of things she has no experience
with. Anyone who can help answer her questions, you can email me
direct and I will forward all information to her.
Her first concern is with a young ferret, 16 months old, that has a
thyroid tumor that biopsy showed to be malignant. Has anyone had any
experience with this? My vet has never encountered this before.
Xrays taken on the little one is also showing spots in the lungs.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
The next is a question about a medication used for heart problems.
Specifically mitral valve disorders and dilatory (sp)
cardiomyopathy. The name of the drug is pimbendan. If I remember
correctly this drug has to be compounded and apparently it is hard to
find someone who can compound it. We have a compounding pharmacy
here in Mobile, AL that will compound it for us. Any input from
others on this would be greatly appreciated. Again, just forward all
