Thanks for all your responses on my melatonin question. Unfortunately
yes, money for surgery is a big issue. I called several vets in the
area and got referred back to the same two vets that do it often. The
price gets pretty outrageous...$525 for the sugery, then add 40 here,
60 there, 40 for that, 60 for blood tests...In total it climbs
somewhere to about $800. Anyone know of a good place to go in the NYC
or Upstate NY area? I've just started Freddy (my ferret) on 1 mg
melatonin pills (smashed and mixed with ferret-vite). I'll have to
investigate mixing it with Lupron. Didn't I read on one of those
melatonin links that the symptoms subsided and the gland stopped
swelling just on Melatonin alone? I ask this because I've caught it
in an early stage, he hasn't loss THAT much hair yet and the vet
didn't feel a swollen gland anywhere....So if that were the case, and
Melatonin just halted gland swelling, then he still might be OK? Well
anyway...Thanks again for your thoughts!
