Subject: [ferrethealth] Questionable Infection in Tear Duct?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Our 5 month old DEW girl has developed what appears to be some kind of
infection in the area of her tear duct.
Last night when I went to clean the eye, it was sealed closed.
As I applied a warm wash cloth to the eye, in the area of the tear
duct, a large amount, yes I DO mean a large amount, of yellowish matter
started seeping from a small red area right at the corner of her left
eye.
Could this be an infection or just her body reacting to her running
into something? She goes none stop usually from the time her playtimes
started until bedtime. Her groups get an average of 4 to 5 hours per
day in playtimes. They are supervised when out and I can't think of
anything sharp she could have ran into, but you know ferrets.
I'll get pictures and post of it happens again, but right now I'm
curious as to what it could be.
