You need to think about these as an option. They are sold in many locations, so I just did
a Google search for the first one showing a photo for you. I know nothing about this
particular merchant:

You can examine those and talk about them with your veterinary health provider to ask
about any ferret accidents known with them.

If in the U.S. you should also consider paying the $55 to speak with the Animal Poisoning
toxicologists at either of the ASPCA Animal Poisoning Centers (the original or the one at
Angell). The price is per case so if you have later questions the follow-up call would be
free. If you are outside the U.S. your SPCA may have something similar.

Here are their websites; linked from the FHL Links section. You can also look things like
rodenticides up there:

and

See things like:

http://www.aspca.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=24333

with the title and subtitle:

BEGIN QUOTE
ASPCA Offers Urgent Reminder To Pet Owners: Rat And Mouse Baits Are Also Poisonous To
Dogs And Cats
Monday, November 21, 2005

Over 8,500 Calls Regarding Exposure to Rodenticides; 20 Percent Increase from Previous
Year

and there are 28 more.

Seriously, with something that could potentially go as wrong as this could you really want
to get the info you need from the experts up front to prevent hazards.
