They don't get "colds" which are caused by rhinoviruses, but they get plenty of other
things that can cause coughing or sneezing, or both, some of which (esp. bacterial sinus
infection, mild influenza variants, or allergies) can be confused with colds.

Persistent coughing like is being encountered needs a chest x-ray to check to see if an
infection moved downstream and if there is pneumonia (which sometimes can also involve
pleurisy), or to see if there is Dilative Cardiomyopathy.

The other type: Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy is usually not found by x-ray, but with
ultrasound. Curiously, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy often has unexplained persistent
weight loss as the first noticed symptom.

When cardiomyopathy of any type is present ultrasound makes sense, anyway, because it
allows the medical options to be best chosen for the individual's needs.

(A really bad case of pneumonia or pleurisy, or both can also call for ultrasound imaging.)
