One option is to put the food in a lunch bag size paper bag that is on it's side until the little
one grows up more. You could alternatively put it into something with a lip, like an empty
tissue box.

The ferrets should have plenty of room when they are in a cage, anyway, so keep the food
away from waste or water as has already been said, and then you could have something they
can safely have it spilled onto. We like pillowcases with ties sewn on for fall stops and for
places where food can be safely spilled.

If they are eating in bed cover any fake sheep's fleece. It can cause blockages when it is
ingested.
