Subject: [ferrethealth] Liver chemistry - urgent advice needed
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Hi All
You may remember me from previous posts on Willow ferret...
The little lady has deteriorated, she is off her food - picking at
kibbles at times, but not very happy about it, and she refuses to take
any medicine orally, vomiting anything she is given by syringe up
(even plain ferretvite). She's lost about 50g in the last 3 days, and
last night vomited up some fluid (though no solids). She does,
however, remain active and alert, and when food goes into her it tends
to pass out in normal enough poops.
I took to the vet this morning, who redid the endoscopy of a few
months back, and did a full blood panel. Some of the blood work has
gone out for culturing, but the initial results were done inhouse and
show serious liver anomalies. Given her twin sister died a year ago
from a liver tumour, we're obviously worried, and the vet will be
doing a biopsy tomorrow morning to get a better idea of what we're up
against.
These are the blood results I have - can anyone comment on what these
may mean, and what we should be looking out for?
