Subject: Liver Chemistries Re: [ferrethealth] Digest Number 79
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Just to update, my vet performed exploratory surgery yesterday, and
found the liver to be similar in colour to that shown in Dr William's
articles (presumably from fat), *but* it had two significant 'lumps'
growing out from the side. He removed these and they have been sent
for biopsy, and we should have the report on them in the middle of
next week. The rest of the blood work was available yesterday, and
apart from some mild anemia it seemed generally OK.

The little lady lost a good bit of blood in surgery, and her wound has
been slow to stop bleeding, though as of an hour or so ago it seemed
dry at last. Things were not helped by her pulling a stitch overnight!
So far today she has been out a few times to walk about, she's had
some water, and even consented to some ferretvite.

We will see what the biopsy results say next week, but given her
family history my vet is not optimistic about the result.
