Subject: [ferrethealth] Shelf Life of Prednisone

Can someone please let me know how long liquid prednisone lasts. I have
a bottle thats been in my fridge since the end of May, 2006. At that
time, my ferret, was suffering from ulcers and not eating. The vet and
I agreed, it was not insulinoma, but prescribed the pred to help him
anyway. He won the battle with the ulcers and has been fine ever since.
No pred was given after that. Within the last week, he has not been
eating and is getting very wobbly. I have been giving him extra
feedings with baby food, but he's fighting me. I just dont know if its
safe to give him the pred if it expires? The bottle does not have an
expiration date. It says its a Prednisone Solution 4 mg/ml and I'm to
adminster 0.3 ml once a day. I have a phone call into my vet, but its
Saturday so I dont know if I will get a response. Any help is greatly
appreciated.
