Subject: [ferrethealth] Re:need info on dead ferret syndrome
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

What I meant about DFS was that my friend tried to wake her and she would not wake up, it took 20 mintues for her to wake up! He came home and found her with her head up against the cage and he dropped everything to pick her up and she was limp, her eyes closed, breathing semi-normal and would not wake up when he tickled her foot pads, etc.. He thought she was dead and started telling her about Rainbow Bridge. She woke up about 20 minutes after he put some predlisone along her gumline. Her bg at the vets a couple days beforehand was 101. Does anyone know what this could be? Could it be insolinoma? or is it Dead Ferret Syndrome? A week before that, she was lethargic, not eating well and had a bout with 3 dark tarry looking stools! I am thinking he should monitor her bg just in case. He is stumped as I am. Any ideas?

Eleanor
