In our own experience when we had two with IBD the nucleotides did
not help. I wish I could say that they had, but there was no difference
in their health. That was the second thing we tried nucleotides for,
and Michael was a sweetheart for providing them due to previous
research (esp in birds) on alveolar growth improvement with them
supplemented. Hopefully, others had more luck with them.

When ferrets react to a food it is often a protein source causing the
problem and some of the vegetable sources of proteins also have
been a concern for some ferrets.

So, it is not a given manufactured food that is the problem but
certain ingredients.

Chicken is a common trigger. Sadly, it is also a very common
ingredient. One of ours simply could not tolerate any poultry, at all.
Some have problems with corn. It varies.

The thing about z/d is that the proteins are broken down so greatly
in that food, no matter the source, that it tends to not cause irritation.

IBD seems to typically arise secondary to infections which is why it so
often clumps. You will find some past vet comments in the Archives
on different potential infectious triggers.
