Thanks again Dr Murray

Consult Vet= B

Home Vet = A

[FHL Rules requiring hiding the identities of treating vets and hospitals.]

Well I tried to get through to the Dr B yesterday- got one of the
receptionists- it was Saturday and they were very busy so she asked him
a couple questions. The answers I got back made zero sense (Why drop
Lupron and give Casdex- no real answer) and one was talking about going
to our State University's Vet Hosp to have an ultrasound on the right
adrenal. They are the only place in the state that has the probe that is
small enough to see what is going on in the small places. Apparently it
cost $200K. Dr A and I have been discussing doing this. Well Dr B's
receptionist leaves a voice mail saying "well no he said it was not
necessary to re-ultrasound the PROSTATE" YIKES I have seen the prostate
ultrasound already no way am I asking for another one. Will make it
clear no more middle man for questions- I will just call and leave a
message for him to return my call when he has time.

Picked up his bottle of Casodex here is what it says and I DON"T think
the dosage is what you suggest:

Give 0.1ml by mouth daily for four weeks. (Marshmellow Flavored)

C-VET BICALUTAMIDE 50 MG/ML supension

Luke weighs about 2lbs 8 oz if that has anything to do with how the
dosing goes.

I was eyeing all the different melatonin bottles at the drug store- lot
of them are 3 mg the only bottle that was 1 mg was a Sublingual form.
It was in a capsule which would have been easy to open up and mix it
some kind of treat. One brand had the 3 mg form in a capusle too. YOU
CAN BET I THOUGHT HARD ABOUT BEING A DEVIANT AND JUST BUYING THE
MELATONIN AND GIVING IT TO MY LITTLE GUY- without telling Dr B I am
doing it. Then I thought again IS THIS VERY WISE? Could the melationin
really affect much of what Dr. B may or may not do? I would go to the
store and buy it this minute BUT what if I don't tell him and it affects
something.

I think maybe we are heading for cyrosurgery (if I will consent) - Dr B
is hesitant to say for certain- he covers many different case scenerios
with the pros and cons. He is tentative and I can see his brain
clicking in his head- it obvious in his eyes and facial expression. He
talks slow and with much thought to his words. He spent an hour just
talking to me on Friday as there were no other clients at the time.
Maybe he is going to add the Luporn back after the casodex or maybe we
will be going to surgery. Will discuss much of this tomorrow (Monday).
Things may be altogether different when the blood tests come back-
glucose was 73 - he said he was suspicous of that. Sent the blood away
for three tests one is a twin test using the insulin level versus the
glucose level. If the Insulin number is way higher the the glucose he
says that means Insulomia and now we will have a new complication. Will
get those results Monday.

Now Luke is not due for his 240 mcg shot until Feb 8th. If I don't see
ANY improvement at that time I will do some reconsidering of my options.
I will have Dr A do an ultra sound to see if the prostate is indeed
shrinking because of the casodex or if we are not getting much of a
response- IF Casodex brings down the prostate in 2 to 4 weeks then by
Feb 8 we should see that it is shrinking some. Dr B just bought his
practice and does not have an ultra sound machine yet. These two Vets
could collaborate- they know each other- they went through Vet school
together (they both told me this and seem postive towards each other.).
Dr. A was pleased I saw Dr B and is very supportive of a second
opinion he told me he is willing to work with Dr B in any way. I was
able to talk to Dr A yesterday. I know he cares for Luke (the way he
holds him, talks to him and handles him it is so obvious)- he has done a
lot of work with Luke (the file from 2005 to 2007 is very thick)

THANK YOU SO MUCH-You are such a giving person to come on here after
doing a long days work just to talk to us. You will be Blessed for
these kind acts.

Kind Regards,

Deb

Please excuse any spelling errors- don't have time to look things up-
have work to get done- and am behind.
