I had an easier time using poultry-flavored metronidazole. The pharmacy at the vet I use was able to mix that up for me. We used enough flavor that it turned dark brown when thoroughly mixed. I found with the poultry flavoring, I could get about half the dose into a ferret before they realized it tasted bad under the poultry flavor, and then the second half wasn't too much of a struggle. I also "pre-treat" :) with some ferretone to help coat the taste buds, and give a little ferretone after as a reward.
