Subject: RE: [ferrethealth] giving metronidazole--Please Help
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

I do same with my ferret. After his carafate (which he has no problem with),
and his soup (which he does love, but won't touch if I've put medicine in
it) I give him a few licks of ferretone with lots of hugs and kisses, then I
give him his diazoxide (which he HATES) but he takes it right down and is
looking for the "chaser" licks of ferretone before I can even get it into my
palm. We do this twice a day, and I swear he loves the attention associated
with the ritual so much he doesn't mind the taste anymore. Good luck, it
takes a lot of patience to find a way that works best for the ferret. I get
up 45 mins early to go through this ritual with him, but it's worth it. It's
not stressful on him anymore and the meds are working well for him.
