To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I was recently told by my vet that Purevax is a cat vaccine and that it will
"Kill a ferret." One of my kids isn't vaccinated for distemper right now
because our vet said that Purevax cannot be used on ferrets and Fervac (sp?)
is no longer made. She's waiting on Galaxy, which she added she's unhappy
about since that vaccine is known to cause more reactions in ferrets.
My Tocho wasn't vaccinated when the others were because he'd thrown up the
night before and the vet wanted to wait and see if he was okay before
vaccinating. However, Fervac wasn't being made when I took him back for his
shots.
Can someone please elaborate on this, especially since, according to this
post, the Purevax is safe? I'm terribly worried that Tocho is unprotected
right now.
Thanks.
