Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Ferret with tumor or abscess hind rear leg likely will be amputated
Ferrets seem to need a large tissue pad left because they have quite a bit of tissue
retraction after amputations (we are familiar with partial hand amputations, toe loss due to
mother, and tail amputations.) so a large soft tissue pad reduces the risk of needing a later
surgery because bone won't be exposed.
One who came to us needed a longer run of antibiotics than expected and another needed
an extra antibiotic.
